'Labour Welfare Centre, Chandpur' under the Directorate of Labor under the Ministry of Labor and Employment is basically a service organization. Incidentally, it should be noted that the current Directorate of Labor was born in June 1976 through historical evolution in the light of various realities after independence. A total of 32 Labor Welfare Centers have been set up in various industrial areas of the country to ensure the overall welfare of the workers. 'Labour Welfare Centre, Chandpur' is one of them and is located in the industrial heart of Chandpur district, one of the river ports of Bangladesh. The center consists of one tinshaded administrative building and two tinned residential buildings occupying 0.75 acres of landscaped land. The center is being managed by a staff of 09 (Manjari post number 12) headed by an in-charge Medical Officer. Needless to say, the dedicated PRAN officers currently working are experienced and dedicated in service. Since its inception, this office has been providing free health care and medicine distribution to workers and their family members working in Rupsa and adjacent industrial establishments, increasing awareness about family planning, distribution of free birth control materials along with entertainment services and worker education training to raise awareness about the rights and duties of workers. remains Also, 'Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Foundation' takes necessary steps to provide financial assistance for medical or death of workers and their family members and for higher education of their meritorious children from the fund.
